Exploration project in Northern Canada
Sometimes there is no need to go far on the other side of the world to find isolated communities excluded from economic development. The Far North is known to travellers as a land of great adventure, but the mostly indigenous communities that live in these villages often lack sustainable economical opportunities, making life difficult, particularly for young people. Promoting the development of integrated sustainable tourism could be a new way to create a micro-economy as a base for sustainable development, while offering the traveller a new experience of authenticity and sharing.
Village Monde therefore wants to explore the potential of these regions extending from northern Quebec, Labrador, Nunavik, Greenland and Nunavut.
