Description

Selection, training and coordination of young explorers from Quebec and Ontario on interprovincial mobility missions to promote the Canadian Francophonie through sustainable travel.

The objectives

Impacts on Francophone youth

4 Franco-Ontarians (18-35 years old) recruited to participate in the training activities of the Academy of Explorers Camp
20 Quebecers (18-35 years old) selected to participate in the training activities of the Academy of Explorers Camp, including 4 directly involved in this project
4 Quebec explorers sent to discover target Francophone or bilingual communities in Ontario
4 Franco-Ontarian explorers sent to discover Quebec communities involved in sustainable tourism

Impacts on the Francophone and bilingual tourism industry

40 new accommodations and 120 activities in Quebec and Ontario promoted on the Vaolo platform following explorations
200 tourism businesses directly or indirectly impacted in Ontario and Quebec
Creation of inspiring French-language content highlighting Ontario-Quebec interprovincial routes and tours

Collaborations and impacts on relations in the Francophonie

Establishment of an initial partnership between Société Économique de l’Ontario and Village Monde and long-term cooperation between the two organizations
Ongoing and sustainable Franco-Ontarian exchanges involving youth, entrepreneurs, etc.
Openness to collaborating on pan-Canadian tourism projects such as the Francophone heritage, cultural and tourism corridor developed by RDÉE Canada and its national network.

The actions

Identification of sustainable and responsible tourism initiatives

Identification of target regions where there is a high proportion of Francophones and a recognized tourist and cultural activity
Mapping of Francophone and bilingual sustainable tourism initiatives in Ontario and the provinces bordering Quebec

Training young Quebecers and Ontarians to be explorers

Selection of candidates
Training with a series of lectures and preparatory activities
Exploration: discovery of sustainable tourism initiatives identified in each province
Labelling of the visited tourism initiatives

Organization of the Academy of Explorers Camp

Creation of workshops, conferences and activities in nature
Sharing experiences with other explorers
Reflection on the tourism of tomorrow
