Train from Kandy to Ella
You can choose the comfort of your train trip from the charming city of Kandy until the small town of Ella and travel through rice paddies in the center of the country. Beautiful landscapes where the colorful clothes of pickers contrast with the bright green of tea leaves.
The former royal capital Sigiriya, also called the “Lion Rock”, is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage. It is possible to make the ascension of this ancient fortress emerging from the plain to more than 370 meters. You may need a bit of waiting whilst ascending the rock in high season because the site is now very touristy, but the view from above is certainly worthwhile!
Southern and Eastern beaches
In the south, beautiful beaches, touristic but pleasant and easily accessible. Moving away to the east, discover beaches still unknown of travelers. Greeted by the genuine smile of the local people, you may want to enjoy their freshly-caught and deliciously prepared fish.
