Tsaidam Camp is located in the province of Arkhangai, close to Ugi Lake, at the heart of the Orkhon Valley. The Camp has 29 yurts (double, triple and quadruple), each one containing an ecological fireplace for heating. After a long horseback hike and a rest period to admire a colourful sunset, you can enjoy a typical Mongolian BBQ made of meat cooked slowly in a pit of hot stones served with organic vegetables grown in local greenhouses.
The site allows its guests to take long walks and visit the Khushuu Tsaidam Museum (Turkish Museum) evoking the presence of this empire more than 1300 years ago. Every year, they celebrate the great traditional Festival of Naadam: Horseback racing, dancing, singing, wrestling, bow shooting and building of miniature yurts. Tsaidam Camp also facilitates unforgettable stays with local nomadic families. You will be allowed to sleep there and to share their daily lives: preparation of cheese and Airag (a local alcohol made of fermented mare’s milk), playing with the kids, taking care of animals, gathering the livestock grazing freely. You may even succeed in taming wild horses!
The camp generates many benefits for locals: job creation for families living around; basic training in hotel business, food supply to the nomads (dairy products, meat) and support to these families by renting horses and guides for horseback riding excursions, by referencing customers for homestays (nomads) and by promoting and selling local crafts.
The accommodation package includes breakfast for 2 guests.
