More than a thousand years old, the former capital of Indochina charms its visitors with the mix of the Chinese and French cultures. We can find many monuments and pagodas to visit. Even in the heart of the motorcycles chaos, many pleasant walks can be done to discover places of interest and you will appreciate to stop and enjoy a good meal in one of the nice cafes in the Old Town.
Even though we are used to see it on pictures, Halong Bay landcapes and its 1969 islands leave no one indifferent. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the Bay is the place of residence of more than 1600 Vietnamese living in the floating homes. Ha Long means “descending dragons” and is named after a local legend telling that a dragon would have gone into the sea and, with its tail, would have created the famous karstic peaks.
Also appearing on the UNESCO list, the city of Hué has numerous historic monuments including the citadel, the Thien Mu pagoda, the temple of literature, the Tomb of Dong Khanh, etc. There are in total more than fifteen monuments and site to discover the cultural wealth of the Vietnamese people.
The Northern Paddy fields
You cannot travel to Vietnam without visiting the amazing paddy fields. In the North of the country, it can be admired in Mù Cang Chải region, little known by tourists, or in the very popular region of Sapa. Many possibilities of hikes and car rides are available to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Vietnam rice paddies.
