Tembo Kijani Ecolodge
Tembo Kijani is a small ecolodge that combines the best of the Swahili Coast – wildlife safari with cultural experiences, nature and an unspoiled beach. The Swahili Coast is an untouched part of Tanzania, where you can still see the local Swahili tradition, a mixture of Arab, Indian and African influence – see the Mangati tribe with their cattle, try some locally brewed coconut beer, understand the traditional way of making salt. The Swahili Coast includes the only national park in Tanzania on the coast – Saadani National Park, where you can find giraffes, elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles, small and big gazelles and antelopes and more than 200 different species of birds – a totally private safari as most of the time you will be the only visitor in these 1100sqkm.
Staying at Tembo Kijani is a unique and private experience with the owners being around year long, guiding you on safaris, telling you about their dream come true and infecting you with their love for nature, wildlife and sustainability.
The entire staff comes from the surrounding villages creating more than 10 jobs, most of them received a tourism-related training. These jobs, in addition to giving them social benefits rare in Tanzania, bring a steady income and a profession that can be used anywhere in the tourism industry in Tanzania. Tembo Kijani also works closely with Saadani Park management on conservation issues of the fauna and flora in the national park, but also keeps the indigenous coastal wildlife in its premises protected and growing through the eco way of building, use of renewable energy and recycling waste water. Food is locally sourced and turned into magic dishes by the German chef.
The accommodation package includes full board for 2 people.
