The Blue Hills
The cost of the package includes 1 night, 3 meals per day and transportation for 2 people, in addition to the activities and guide. In order to live fully that immersion experience, a minimum of 3 nights is required for the booking.
The Blue Hills project, which the town of Yellamalai is a part, aims to enhance abandoned tea planters villages. In addition to visit the plantations, you will have the chance to meet producers in this area, participate in cultural events and festivals, hiking in the Ooty mountains, to be introduced to Indian cuisine and many more.
You will be staying in families and the members of Solidestinations association, who initiated this project, will guide you in the different activities. Provided by the local producers, the food served by the families is mainly vegetarian and organic.
In addition to hiring 2 assistants from the village, who are in charge of logistic and translation, the homestay project in Yellamalai allows participating families to generate additional income. The sustainable tourism organization Solidestinations also wants to collaborate with local organizations to contribute to reforestation, village health, raising environmental awareness among villagers and to create a waste management system.
