- Project leader: ASTURS, a Peruvian non-profit organization committed to strengthening community capacities through training, microcredit, technical assistance, and solidarity tourism. It promotes responsible management of natural resources and the preservation of cultural traditions in order to support local development.
- Duration: 1 year
- Location: communities around Lake Titicaca, southern Peru

Context
Around Lake Titicaca, in southern Peru, several indigenous communities live in a traditional way and are involved in community-based tourism, sharing their culture, skills, and way of life with visitors.
However, despite their commitment, these communities often lack basic infrastructure. In some areas, access to drinking water remains very limited and available sources are often contaminated, leading to disease, malnutrition, and significant health vulnerabilities. This situation compromises both the well-being of local populations and the sustainability of solidarity tourism.
It is in this context that ASTURS proposes a simple, accessible, and sustainable project: installing water purifiers in homes and community centers, while training residents in their maintenance and the importance of hygiene. By improving access to clean water, the goal is to strengthen the resilience of communities, protect their health, and ensure a safe welcome for visitors.
This project aims to combine public health, local autonomy, and responsible tourism in an approach rooted in respect for the environment and indigenous cultures.
