Association of Young Volunteers For a Clean Environment (AJVEP)

  • Supported by Écolodge d’Avlo Village
  • Avlo, South-Benin
  • Duration: 1 year

Context

The AJVEP project at Avlo-plage is part of the promotion of a sustainable environment with the active involvement of young people and women. Covering the entire village of Avlo-plage and, if possible, the neighboring villages, this project aims to create a lasting impact on the sanitation of the village, the education of children and the well-being of the inhabitants through clean-up and waste collection activities, training and awareness-raising on environmental protection and biodiversity, and sports and educational activities for children. In addition, through a cooperative, the financial empowerment of women contributing to village maintenance activities and the development of income-generating activities will be taken into account.

The ecolodge that initiated this project welcomes travellers looking for an off-the-beaten-track experience that brings them closer to the local community, in a responsible tourism approach at the heart of Village Monde’s values. Part of the lodge’s revenue is used to support a community development fund and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
