A Journey
that Transforms

Originally, a Journey

Madagascar

Village Monde was founded in 2010 to encourage wealth-generating initiatives in remote communities. Through the development of economic, social and environmental micro-projects that promote local entrepreneurship, communities acquire the means to improve their living conditions. The resulting prospect of a better future and a sustainable escape from poverty irreversibly reduces the rural exodus.

In 2015, thanks to the discovery of local initiatives in Madagascar and Senegal (Casamance), Village Monde turned to sustainable tourism in remote areas as an inclusive development tool that respects ecosystems and is economically and socially viable. This form of tourism values the authenticity of greetings, encounter and exchanges between communities and travellers while creating positive local spin-offs on a social, economic and environmental level.

Starting in 2017, Village Monde focuses on developing a platform connecting sustainable tourism initiatives to international travelers. This led in 2019 to the launch the collaborative platform Vaolo inc., a social innovation company.

Social Innovation to Make a Difference

Village Monde aims to become a laboratory for social innovation in the sustainable tourism sector. As such, the organization makes itself available to develop new tools and provide support to communities that wish to undertake. This support takes the form of sharing know-how with communities, assisting with structuring projects, developing complete sustainable tourism ecosystems and local micro-economy circuits, and local micro-economy circuits, and reducing the digital gap.

With Vaolo’s support, Village Monde helps strengthen and promote on an international scale community-based initiatives in more remote areas or areas outside the traditional tourism, economic circuits, and connects these communities to the larger traveler market.

To carry out its interventions, Village Monde relies on civic engagement, which includes raising travelers’ awareness.
