Exploration and Promotion of Village Tourism in Casamance
Developed in the 70s, these accommodations are recognized as a model of integrated Village Tourism. In their beginnings, the village camps had been very successful, encouraging many other villages of Casamance to also develop a unique experience for the travellers in these villages. The war of independence of Casamance, which lasted, for over 20 years, until 2005, drove away tourism and these village camps – many of which have been maintained in good condition – presently suffer greatly from a lack of visitors.
Casamance is once again at peace. Village Monde, therefore, plans to work actively to promote these village camps, a true model of sustainable micro-development. The project aims to revitalize this mode of tourism in Casamance by providing a promotion and marketing collaborative platform.
